Proverbs 16:3
Commit your work to the LORD,
and your plans will be established.
Psalm 37:4
Delight yourself in the LORD,
and he will give you the desires of your heart.
Christian, how should you live today? What do you want from your life today? The Bible couldn’t be clearer in its guidance and its promise for us.
Commit your way to the Lord. Set aside selfish motives. Step out of self-reliance and into faithful submission to God. Lay your plans before him, do you work for him, put forth your effort in gratitude to him, make honoring him your trajectory. And if you do it will work wonderfully–maybe unexpectedly, but wonderfully nonetheless.
Delight yourself in the Lord. Don’t merely seek happiness from God. Recognize that he is the source of all your happiness–his fatherly love, his immeasurable mercy, his sustaining grace, his constant provision. If God is the source of our delight and the one to whom we constantly turn for happiness, how could the desires of our hearts not be fulfilled. He will not hold himself back from a yearning heart.
So today commit and delight. There is our course and our hope.
