Commentaries come in so many forms, depths, and technicalities and serve a variety of purposes. I am not a proficient Greek reader or any sort of Hebrew reader, so the more technical commentaries are over my head. The Bible Speaks Today series is my over-all favorite (especially the volumes by John Stott, Derek Kidner, Dick Lucas, and Christopher Wright). It is sermonic but also in-depth. It is clear and accessible. For sermon/teaching preparation I always have these commentaries near at hand.
